Welcome to the 2026 meeting of the BME-Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Alliance (BME-IDEA)!

BME-IDEA brings together participants from academic institutions and industry to network and share best practices in innovation, design, and entrepreneurship in biomedical engineering education. The meeting convenes alongside the Biomedical Engineering Society's (BMES) annual conference, and this year's meeting is on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.

The 2026 BME-IDEA Meeting will offer valuable opportunities for networking, collaboration, and in-depth discussions on the latest trends and innovations in biomedical engineering design education. Attendees can look forward to professional development sessions tailored for design faculty and staff including special working sessions on AI and a panel discussion featuring leaders from the medical device industry and biomedical engineering educators. The event will also include snapshot presentations showcasing best practices or innovations in design instruction. The day will conclude with a networking reception where you may continue conversations, build connections, and reflect on the day’s insights.
